Team Saskatchewan bounced back from a 22-4 loss to Ontario in semi-final baseball action at the Summer Games. The Friday semi saw a games record for the most runs scored by a team
in a single match. The record was last set by Team Nova Scotia in 2013 where they scored 16 runs. This particular record however was broken a couple of times during the 2022 competition, as Team Alberta broke the record first in their 17-7 victory over Newfoundland on the second day of the competition. Only to have Team BC surpass their mark with a 18-8 win over Nova Scotia. Now Ontario holds the top spot in the history books with their impressive 22 run performance.
Team Ontario went on to the gold medal while Saskatchewan rallied on Saturday to take home bronze in a 6-5 victory. Muenster's Adam Korte closed out the seventh inning on the mound getting Lucas Laukkanen of BC to ground out to short for the victory.
Saskatchewan's offence was led by their leadoff hitter Oakland Flodell from Clavet, who continued to tear it up at the dish where he had a perfect 1-for-1 day with a pair of walks and a pair of runs batted in. Cory Wouters of Saskatoon had the winning RBI double in the top of the seventh to add a star to his 2-for-4 performance.
